Maria Harper
Head Designer, Master Tailor
Owner
Fashion Designer Maria Harper (affectionately known in the industry as "Ms. Maria") has been Atlanta's best kept celebrity secret in the industry for years!!! She is recognized from coast to coast for her innovative, cutting edge style, and keen eye for fashion.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Maria began to sew at age 8 as her mother's assistant making clothing for her and her siblings. But as life went on, sewing became a thing of the past. Until 1990 when a traumatic injury caused her to leave her job and dust off her sewing machine for therapy, never knowing that her life would never be the same.
Maria's work is well known and respected in the industry... so much so that she has never advertised! Her success was strictly built on word-of-mouth and it is still going strong! Her pieces have been featured in many publications, tv, film, & theater projects and have been worn internationally by her celebrity clientele. She specializes in all things apparel: Couture, Women/Men/Children's Wear, Evening, Wedding, Sportswear, Film/Video Wardrobe, Costuming, & even Interiors!
While Maria continues to create custom designs for her Atelier clients, she also regularly spends time as a Master Tailor on Premium Movie & Television Sets; catering to A-list cast members through custom tailoring and making specialized costumes & high-end fashions for productions.
When Maria is not on set or at the studio you can find her spending time with her husband, family, & friends. Or she will be cooking, reading, watching Sci-fi or Superhero movies, & mastering new modern techniques of the fashion industry.
Joy Harper Ash
Sr. Fashion Designer/Illustrator
& Business Director
Joy has played an integral role in helping to grow & shape Maria Harper Designs into the brand it is today! Joy was her mother Maria's apprentice since day 1 of her business, at the age of 12 years old, and is a 3rd generation fashion designer. She has continued to help her mother build upon the family legacy by using her expertise in fashion, but also by using her degree & skills from university in marketing, business & merchandising. As a Sr. Designer for MHD, she creates high-end looks for many of Maria's V.I.P. & Celebrity clientele. She works with Maria to drive innovation and design forward, infusing our clients' design projects with both modern vision and trending style.
In addition to her commitment to her mother's business, she also has her own. Joy has a self-branded label "Joy Harper Ash" in fashion, home goods, & art illustration. She also owns an online gently used clothing boutique for kids as a way to help families and to reduce the environmental effects of fast fashion. She is the proud mother & manager of TJ & Olivia (4th generation in fashion) who have their own branded fashion labels also.
When you can't find Joy at the studio she is caring for her kiddos & her hubby Tim; screenwriting with her sister Jackie; illustrating; reading; or learning new fashion, business, or cooking techniques. For Joy's full bio visit...
Jackie Harper
Sourcing & V.I.P. Customer Relations
Jackie's expertise in the fashion industry is deeply rooted in the family business, where she has been a foundational presence since its inception. She assists Maria in sourcing for the fashion house to make sure our customers are able to get the best quality fabrics, embellishments, & notions for each design. She is also a hands-on assistant to Maria helping with V.I.P. customer relations. She has cultivated an innate understanding of the brand's aesthetic & and is committed to bringing quality to the legacy making sure clients receive the high-end quality that they deserve!
When Jackie is not at the family studio, you will find her screenwriting for television & film, working out, painting, or working on her personal health brands.

T. J. Ash
Jr. Fashion Designer & Artwork
T.J. is a 4th generation designer in the family business and has grown up immersed in the world of fashion for 17 years! He is born-and-breed in learning the art of design from a family that has been at the forefront of the industry for generations. TJ is dedicated to mastering every aspect of the trade. From sketching to construction, and from assisting to consulting, he is dedicated to carry on the tradition of creating modern & classic fashions that our customers will love for generations to come. You will find him doing all kinds of projects & unique techniques around the studio with paints, artwork & edgy embellishments for the company. To keep the tradition going, T.J. has recently started his own streetwear line, "Scraps" which his "Nana" Maria couldn't be more proud of. And a brand that his peers wear & rep on the regular.
When T. J. is not in the family studio implementing new modern techniques, he is spending time with family & friends. Or you can find him out and about using his skills in film and photography. When he's not out, he's in the lab studying his craft and studying... getting prepared to enter university next year for film, business & fashion.

Olivia Ash
Jr. Apprentice
Also a born-and-bred member of the Maria Harper Design family, Olivia has grown up with an intimate knowledge of the industry. Now a junior apprentice, she works across all stages of production; from sketching original concepts to executing sewing techniques taught directly from her "Nana" Maria & her mom Joy's hands. In addition to contributing to the family house, Olivia is channeling her passion and skills into her own clothing & home goods labels, "Olivia Ash" continuing in her family's heritage of innovation.
When Olivia is not at the family studio, you can find her having fun with her family or friends, reading, playing the violin, or texting with her besties. She is the "heart" of the company like her Nana & our little sweethearted princess of the crew.
